Bring plenty of food. Changing food during the sitting can cause unnecessary stress for your dog. Although the dog can eat what the sitter provides if agreed upon, we strongly advise against this. Also bring the items your dog uses daily: collar, leash, food and water bowls, blanket, and bed. If your dog needs medication, bring enough supply and provide clear written instructions. You can also add these details to your dog’s profile so the sitter can refer to them. If needed, also bring (a copy of) the dog’s passport, so it’s clear, among other things, which vaccinations your dog has received.
If the sitter has other dogs, we recommend leaving any toys or comfort items your dog is especially attached to at home. Other dogs might also want to play with them, which your dog probably won’t appreciate. Something that can help with homesickness is a T-shirt or cloth with your scent. Your dog will appreciate it if you leave such a piece of textile with the sitter.
Of course, these are all matters you can discuss with the sitter during the meet and greet or before the sitting.
